Reduce development time and effort for current vs. voltage (I-V) tests on a variety of devices, such as multi-terminal semiconductor components, solar cells, and more with the TSP Toolkit script development environment, a Visual Studio Code extension. This new feature, currently in Beta, allows you to configure each MP5000 Series Modular Precision Test System SMU or PSU module for a variety of bias and sweep sourcing operations, and automatically generate a TSP script to leverage in your test workflow.

In this blog, we'll explore the I-V script generation beta of the TSP Toolkit extension and how to quickly develop I-V characterization tests for the MP5000.

GUI based Script Development with TSP Toolkit

An interactive UI was added to TSP Toolkit to allow you to quickly create I-V characterization routines. Simply enter test parameters in the configuration menu and generate TSP scripts with a single mouse click.
To generate a script, follow the steps below:
    1. Open Microsoft Visual Studio Code and install the Tektronix TSP Toolkit extension.
    2. In the Explorer Tab, navigate to the Script Generation Pane and click the “+” to view the TSP Toolkit Script Generation user interface.

On the interface, you'll see three menus for Bias, Step, and Sweep, which when expanded, reveal a configuration window below. Based on your input parameters, responsive waveform previews are generated to eliminate the guess work and verify sourcing behavior prior to generating a script.

Once you are happy with your test parameters and the resulting source previews, simply press the “Open Script” button. This will automatically generate TSP code containing settings and the trigger model. The script appears in a new editor tab where you can run, save, or edit the script as you like.

The TSP Script Generation UI Beta is currently available with the TSP Toolkit Visual Studio Code extension which can be downloaded from the VS Code Marketplace. Please submit questions and feedback on TSP Toolkit GitHub discussions.
